Michell Tecnodec (GBP 592.00 exc arm & cart)

Michell Tecnodec

The long awaited new Michell turntable is finally with us, and what a cracker it is! The Tecnodec (well, we didn't know what it would be called at the time) has been promised for at least a year - Michell like to get their products fully sorted out before releasing them, a thorougly commendable policy in my view. Visually, you can recognise the common heritage with the Gyro SE, except that the Tecnodec has no spring suspension, so virtually no set up is required.

Michell have, though, retained the completely isolated motor assembly, and being of the DC variety, you can always upgrade in the future to the new Michell HR power supply (GBP 335.00), which also suits the Gyro too. Incidentally, it's also worthwhile to get the Michell record clamp (a mere GBP 27.00), and possibly the Unicover (GBP 47.99) to keep the dust off. Hehe, Michell certainly know how to keep you coming back for accessories!

As for choice of arm, the standard Rega models remain the firm favourites, but if you want to go a bit further, either the Origin Live modified Regas or, indeed, Michell's Tecnoarm a (GBP 442.00) would be a good choice (no particular connection with the Tecnodec, it just shares a similar name - these products do, incidentally, excel at playing any type of music, in case the name suggested otherwise!).

These decks are selling like the proverbial "hot cakes" (nobody's ever explained to me exactly what variety these cakes are, does anyone know?) and we advise you to contact us soon if you're interested!
